Radka Toneff - "Live in Hamburg", ODIN NJ4044. Norw Grammy Musicians: Radka Toneff - vocals, Steve Dobrogosz - piano, Arild Andersen - bass, Alex Riel - drums. Recorded live at “Onkel Pö” in Hamburg, March 10, 1981. Recorded and produced by Norddeutscher Rundfunk (NDR), Hamburg. Edited and mastered by Jan Erik Kongshaug at Rainbow Studio, Oslo, December 7, 1992. Produced by Michael Naura. In March 1981, Radka Toneff performed with Steve Dobrogosz, Arild Andersen and Alex Riel at "Onkel Pö" in Hamburg. This was the group she worked with between 1980 and 1982, and fortunately this recording was made by Norddeutscher Rundfunk. The album was released over ten years after Radka Toneff's death, and is together with the "Fairytales" album the most cherished of Odin's productions.
Radka Toneff/Steve Dobrogosz: "Fairytales" - ODIN NJ4003 Recorded at Bergen Digital Studio, Grieghallen, Bergen, February 1982. Recording engineer: Tom Sætre. Produced by Arild Andersen. Radka Toneff – vocals, Steve Dobrogosz - piano. The Fairytales album is the late Norwegian singer Radka Toneff's most appreciated and well-known album. Together with pianist Steve Dobrogosz, this duo explores a number of tunes in an unusually subtle and reflective way, making the recording oustanding among vocal/piano duet albums. Unfortunately, this was to be Radka Toneffs last studio recording. The "Fairytales" album is a special album in all senses. But this CD

Recorded October 1991 at Christian Music Studio, Wisla, Poland. Tomasz Stanko - trumpet, Jon Christensen - drums, Arild Andersen - acoustic and electric bass. Recording engineers: Paul D.Griffith, Andrzej Prugar. Cover design: Witold Popiel. Produced by Krzysztof Popek and Tomasz Stanko. Special thanks to Mariusz Adamiak and Elzbieta Szczerba for their creative help. Thanks also to Royal Norwegian Embassy.
This already widely admired record is a creation of three free style masters: the famous trumpet player and composer Tomasz Stanko and two Norwegians - bassist Arild Andersen and drummer Jon Christensen. Six compositions by Stanko and three by Andersen form together a logical sequence, an entity in a larger sense. Wrote British reviewer in "The Wire": "Stanko developed his own, highly integrated, transparent style. The music on this record is really absorbing, the execution-impressive". Buy CD here

TRIPLICITY
On April 19th, 1979 three seasoned musicians got together for the first and only time at the NDR broadcasting hall in Hamburg, Germany in what was to become a memorable encounter. Along with Albert Mangelsdorff the Norwegian contrabass player Arild Andersen and Swiss drummer Pierre Favre played a concert, that distinguished itself through an unparralled level of spontaneity. That control over the music never got lost in the process, that moreover perfectly shaped pieces arised from petite motifs in free improvisation turned this concert into a highly extraordinary event. Albert Mangelsdorff has been quoted as maintaining that "this ist the most thrilling trio recording" of his entire career. Truly a remarkable statement when one considers the timeless milestones his history has to offer.
